Description
Position objective: To provide expertise and support the Newark Museum’s finance and development departments with financial and grant analysis, reporting, compliance, policies and internal controls.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assures compliance of all internal Museum fiscal processes with applicable accounting, auditing and regulatory standards
- Responsible for internal control compliance and development within the organization
- Ability to author reports and procedure manual updates
- Manage Foundation and Government grant compliance responsibilities, working closely with Development Department to prepare grant proposal budgets and expenditure reports
- Provide regular internal budget updates and analysis of project and grant expenditures
- Maintain the Museum’s SESA and SEFA reports
- Responsible for payroll interface and uploads, including Labor tracking for grants and projects
- Maintain Records and Analysis of allocation of temporarily restricted net assets and, including schedules for targeted release dates
- Annual budgeting, reporting and analysis, including project budgets, working with organization management and project coordinators
- Assist the accounting team with the month-end close and preparation of the financial package
- Cash flow analysis and projections
- Prepare or assist in preparation of financial statements; oversee the accuracy of financial records
- Assist in preparation of annual 990
- Provide administrative, accounting and other related services as requested by management
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Accounting or related field
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
- Knowledge of finance and accounting best practices and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Previous experience with Federal and State grant funds and Unified Audit Requirements (previously A-133).
- Strong background in Grant Accounting, including proficiency in new Uniform Grant Guidelines (UGG) and SESA and SEFA reporting
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Office suites
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively
- Proficiency in Blackbaud’s Financial Edge and Raiser’s Edge preferred
