The Reuben H. Fleet Science Center is San Diego’s only interactive science center and home to the world’s first Giant IMAXÒ Dome Theater.  With more than 400,000 visitors annually, we’re proud to be the most visited museum in Balboa Park.  The Fleet opened in 1973 and is now evolving into a dynamic county-wide organization dedicated to building and supporting communities rich in science learning. We are poised to expand and move in a new direction.

THE JOB:

We are on a quest to find a dynamic, passionate individual to be a part of our expanding Development Department as the Director of Individual Philanthropy.  This position will give you the opportunity to use your initiative to develop creative strategies to achieve the department’s goals. This position actively supports our mission and goals by:

• Developing and managing our comprehensive individual giving program, including identifying, researching, qualifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual prospects and donors.
• Developing and implementing major gift fundraising activities
• Managing and growing the Fleet’s planned giving program
• Maintaining a substantial portfolio of individual giving prospects and donors
• Serving as a member of the Fleet’s senior management team
• Working in partnership with and supporting volunteer leaders and the Board of Trustees to achieve the organizations financial goals.

Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED:

If you are the ideal candidate, you will be a driver of change and passionate about creating new and innovative ways to engage individual donors in the Fleet’s programs and initiatives.  In addition you will have:

• 7 to 10 years of experience successfully managing multiple aspects of a comprehensive individual giving program, including special events, direct response, major gifts and planned giving
• A proven track record of securing six- and seven-figure contributions
• Experience with capital campaign or initiative based fundraising
• Experience working with membership programs
• A bachelor’s degree
• Proficiency in MS Office and Raiser’s Edge
