Description

The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian (NMAI) seeks a Museum Registration Specialist at the NMAI’s Cultural Resources Center in Suitland, MD. The Museum Registration Specialist generates legal contracts for loans, accessions, and other agreements, assures that all necessary legal forms are completed properly, signed by authorized individuals, and that originals and appropriate copies are preserved in official files. The position is responsible for cataloging objects through consultation with NMAI curatorial staff and through independent research, generating and updating condition reports, assigning and documenting catalog numbers to objects, and coordinating and documenting pest management actions. The incumbent is an active team member for NMAI exhibitions, coordinates outgoing loans as assigned, and may act as a courier for shipments, both domestic and international.  The Smithsonian Institution is an equal opportunity employer.
