The Society of Arts and Crafts is a vibrant organization with a small, friendly, and dedicated staff of eight, and we each wear many hats. We have big dreams and work hard to make them a reality. The oldest craft non-profit in the United States, we seek a knowledgeable and dynamic Finance Manager in a part-time capacity. The dual mission of the Society is to encourage the creation, collection, and promotion of the work of contemporary craft artists and to advance public appreciation of fine craft. The Society fulfills its mission through exhibitions, a twice-annual CraftBoston craft show, a retail gallery, public programs, and awards and grants for craft artists. After more than 40 successful years on Newbury Street, the Society is moving to the Seaport District in late summer 2016 and is expanding its key staff.
The Finance Manager is responsible for the Society of Arts and Crafts’ finances, investment and business operations, including supervising accounting practices, maintenance of the Society’s fiscal records and the preparation of its financial reports.
The Finance Manager ensures a system of strong internal controls and maintains fiscal soundness. Manages the annual external audit, the 990 tax return and the preparation of information for outside funders and board meeting presentation.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Finance Manager will be a key member of the management team, regularly interfacing with Society staff, Board of Trustees, and external financial services providers.
