Description:
The Education Coordinatorwill work to establish and manage educational programs for Berkshire Cultural Resource Center (BCRC) in relation to Gallery 51 and B-HIP. The Coordinator will work closely with the Director of BCRC to balance the responsibilities of each position corresponding to the tasks outlined below. The schedule for this position is four days a week (30 hours). This will be a benefited position. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Gallery Manager:

  • Recruit and hire the Associate Gallery Manager (AMG) for the coming academic year. Preferably an MCLA student should be hired, but if there is no qualified applicant available, hiring from outside the student body is allowed
  • Oversee the AGM: communicate to the director the times that the AGM will be working in the Gallery
  • Help AGM with first month of Work Study staffing of the Gallery
  • Build and implement a plan for the gallery staffing case of sickness, no-shows, etc. so that BCRC staff knows what to do and who to call if someone doesn’t show up
  • Handle all marketing for Gallery 51, including print, online, etc and work with Director on other types of marketing available
  • Be able to train AGM and Gallery staff on sales, opening & closing, and other operations of the gallery
  • Work with the Director on reporting artist sales and answering any artists’ questions about sales
  • Work with FPA department and other departments to bring classes and class visits to the gallery, as well as in class lectures and work related to Gallery shows
  • On install weeks, time usually spent on future show work and marketing will be spent installing the upcoming show

B-HIP Coordination:

  • Help to plan and implement marketing plan for recruiting new B-HIP applicants with BCRC Director
  • Travel to career fairs and other events to recruit applicants
  • Assist in the review and acceptance of B-HIP interns with BCRC director and Arts Management faculty
  • Help to prepare for the arrival of the interns for the summer
  • Create and send weekly emails to Internship sites
  • Participate in the site placement interview process in placing interns
  • Prepare and send welcome packets to interns
  • Participate in and as appropriate lead activities at most of the B-HIP outings throughout the summer
  • Participate in periodic check-ins with the interns throughout the summer
  • Re-cap summer and help to planning coming year’s program with BCRC Director and Arts Management Faculty
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Art, Education or related field
  • 3-5 years professional experience in Arts Management or Arts Education
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Demonstrated skills in leading organizations, groups and/or programs
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to follow through on assignments as well as meet deadline
  • Flexible schedule – ability to work weekends and evenings
  • Transportation – be able to travel within 100 miles for work
  • Comfortable working as part of a team and in a close and collaborative work environment

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience in marketing art and/or educational programming
  • Past work with internship programs and interns
  • Social media marketing experience

This is a 30 hour, benefits-eligible, position in the APA bargaining unit. Salary range is $22,000-$25,000.00
