Description:The program manager oversees Historic New England’s adult and family programs. The position serves as the headquarters liaison to all program planners at Historic New England, ensuring that all programs are well planned and fulfill institutional goals for historical appropriateness, audience development, attendance, and revenue.

Responsibilities:

The program manager develops, implements, and manages Historic New England’s program planning and review process working with program planners throughout the institution; works with marketing staff in the promotion of more than 100 public programs; is responsible for managing Historic New England’s web-based public program calendar and on-line program registration process. The program manager initiates, develops, implements and evaluates innovative interpretive and educational public programs throughout the year; works with the festival and retail coordinator to plan and execute four large-scale annual festivals; works with development staff to identify and secure local funding to support public programming. The program manager works with the administration team to plan and implement governance meetings and programs. The program manager collects, analyzes, and reports on monthly visitation for Historic New England. S/he directly supervises the festival and retail coordinator.

Qualifications:
Requires a bachelor’s degree and four years of job-related experience. The employee in this position must be extremely organized and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting while maintaining precise attention to priorities, formats, procedures, details, and quality. Must be able to manage and manipulate large amounts of data. Requires excellent internal and external customer service skills. Required computer skills include advanced word processing, spreadsheets, and the ability to learn and troubleshoot complicated retail management software. A valid driver’s license and means of transportation is required.
