Description
The Gerald Peters Gallery is seeking an experienced and professional Assistant Registrar.  Responsibilities include assistance in the preservation, management and tracking of gallery inventory which includes two dimensional and three dimensional objects.  Duties include arranging and managing all incoming and outgoing shipments of art. Other responsibilities include entering incoming artworks into gallery’s database, maintaining hardcopy files as well as assistance with collections management and storage.  Position works directly with the art handling team and is directed by the gallery Registrar.
Requirements
Candidate needs to be comfortable with handling and unpacking of artwork(s), both two and three dimensional.  Must be well organized and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.  Shipping experience preferred.
B.A. in Museum Studies, Art History or other related area and one year of museum registration and/or collections management experience preferred.  Knowledge of collections management practices and procedures including art handling, storage and tracking of art objects.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook and strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as attention to detail and organization.
