SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Building Maintenance Technician position is responsible for the day-to-day preventative, diagnostic and corrective maintenance procedures, service and repairs on the building infrastructure elements such as door locks and hardware, wall partitions, cubicle partitions, and furniture, in order to provide a comfortable environment for our visitors and staff. Completes assigned general carpentry projects (drywall repair, acoustical ceiling repair, taping, painting) in order to repair and alter Museum office and public spaces. Assist with other facility repair and maintenance work in order to keep equipment in proper operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 750,000 square feet of museum property, consisting of 7 multi-purpose buildings including a 5 level parking garage, Planetarium, Omni Theater, two theaters and four animal living areas
- Occasionally directs and supervises contractors
- Regularly works on 3 -4 projects simultaneously
- Available for Emergencies 24×7 x 365
- Be on call 24 hours a day to ensure continuous operation of facility systems. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime as requested by management
WORK SCHEDULE:
This position is full-time, Monday – Thursday, from 8:00am – 4:00pm and Friday, from 1:00pm – 9:00pm. This position is also on call 24/7 and may be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime as requested by management.
REPORTS TO:
Manager, Facilities
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Post high school course work, technical degree, associate’s degree or business certificate preferred.
- Three (3) or more years of experience maintaining building infrastructure in an education, institutional, industrial or similar setting.
- Demonstrated ability in the maintenance of building infrastructure elements.
- Demonstrated ability in completing general carpentry projects (drywall repair, taping, painting).
- Demonstrated organizational skills
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and oral
STARTING SALARY:
Non-Exempt (Hourly). Commensurate with experience.
