Description
The Revs Institute for Automotive Research Inc., a 501(c) (3) not for profit educational organization, is seeking a Special Collections Librarian to manage its extensive automotive history collections. The Revs Institute®, located in Naples, Florida, has assembled a private research library comprised of over one million original research documents; with over 25, 000 book titles, one million images, and in excess of 350,000 periodicals and related ephemera. This material, along with numerous collections of corporate and private papers, trophies, sales literature, film, memorabilia, and other related media are organized together within the library’s 2 floors totaling over 12,000 sq. ft.
The Revs Institute’s expansive holdings begin at the dawn of the motorcar in the late 19th century and retain continuity up to present day with most English and major foreign language books and publications. Motor racing images and motoring images of all types exist from a majority of the 20th century in various formats. A major photo digitization project was initiated in 2012, with the consulting and development assistance of Stanford University Libraries (SUL). To date, more than 460,000 images have been digitized and retained in a comprehensive website developed by SUL for access and use worldwide in education and historical research. The website contains images from our permanent collection and was processed by our library team in Naples, with the digitization outsourced. Revs also offers archival prints and image files for sale to enthusiasts and for commercial use, with proceeds used to support our mission. Revs Digital Library Website: https://revslib.stanford.edu/
