THE METROPLOITAN WATERWORKS MUSEUM seeks a creative and experienced educator to deliver interpretive programming for groups and intergenerational visitor audiences. The Educator will work collaboratively with MWM staff to deliver programs primarily for K-12 school groups, but also for other youth/camp groups as well as senior groups, colleges, history students, etc. The position is 15 hrs/week; Wednesdays, Thursdays and occasional weekends; April-October. RESPONSIBILITIES: facilitate activities, interpretations and presentations for K-12 school groups, participate in planning and execute special events, including Family Day and teacher workshops, present occasional programs and tours, develop and prototype hands-on STEM activities for K-12 students, design and conduct lesson plans for STEM subjects included in museum’s educational offerings, assist with development and implementation of programming for adult audiences related to the collections and exhibitions, assist with creating an active program of dynamic and innovative Adult Learning initiatives for the public, in collaboration with Museum colleagues. REQUIRED: BA/BS in education or related field with advanced degree preferred, 5 or more years of experience teaching in schools, museums or other informal learning environments, demonstrated experience with delivery of STEM or history programming, must be able to work collaboratively and proactively with diverse colleagues, collaborators and audiences. PREFERRED: Classroom or informal science/museum teaching experience.
