Family and Academic Programs Manager [Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, VT]

The Family and Academic Programs Manager is the strategic leader of programs that serve students and family audiences.

Essential Job Functions:

Strategic development of academic and family programs
Curriculum development and refinement
Program evaluation
Workshop and class content delivery for students, educators and families
Strategic expansion/refinement of family program marquee programs – Webby, Art on the Go Carts, etc.
Manages program budgets; makes purchasing and staffing decisions as appropriate
Team planning on student and family visitor engagement strategies
Other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

Education Associate and Education Assistant along with educators, guides, and volunteers

Education and Experience:

Qualifications:

A creative and dynamic thinker, able to generate new ideas to connect with diverse and emerging audiences
Awareness of trends and current research on student and family learning in museums
Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as required by programming schedule
A skilled and flexible problem solver
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Proficient with technology and Microsoft Office suite
Ability to walk, stand, sit and lift throughout the day
Proven organizational skills; highly organized and detail oriented; able to juggle multiple projects with occasionally competing deadlines
Sense of humor a must; with a friendly, genuine interest in making the Museum accessible to all audiences
A proven collaborator and strong team player. Able to work comfortably with colleagues, subordinates and volunteers.
Experience working with schools in the development of strategic partnerships.
Digital engagement experience a plus.
