Description:
The Rebecca Nurse Homestead, a historic house museum, is seeking history lovers to join our site as volunteers.  This a beautiful spot to spend the summer and fall!  We pride ourselves on sharing our passion for history with our guests.  The main focus of the museum is on early colonial history as well as the Witchcraft Hysteria of 1692.  Rebecca Nurse was one of those falsely accused and executed. We are currently looking for greeters to welcome visitors, cashiers for the museum shop, and docents to conduct tours of the historic buildings and grounds.
Qualifications:
Basic computer skillsPerfect for retired teachers, high school or college students with a concentration in history/education, or anyone with a passion for early american history!

The Education Volunteer will help interpret the buildings and landscape of Castle in the Clouds, welcoming the public to appreciate its history and beauty by engaging with and educating family groups — with and without children, and interested visitors. This will be accomplished by helping family groups use the interactive programs/activities that will be set up throughout the Castle itself. The Education Volunteer should be friendly, patient, and enjoy working with children, families and the public. The Education Volunteer will be on the front line of interpreting the history of the Castle through hands-on activities in a way that makes it accessible to groups, families and the public at large. The Museum of Russian Icons has openings for volunteer docent tour guides. Being a docent is a wonderful learning opportunity that introduces you to new people in a friendly and exciting environment. Volunteers are asked to make a 1-year commitment and must be able to attend regular meetings on Wednesday mornings. We are especially looking for docents who will be available to give tours on the weekends. All training will be provided, beginning in September. Qualifications:
Love of learning, interest in working with the public, comfort with public speaking. Background in teaching, art, and/or customer service helpful but not required.

TITLE: Museum Assistant REPORTS TO: Assistant Director TERM: 3 hours per week, minimum of 12 weeks STATUS: Volunteer Position The Pettaquamscutt Historical Society was founded in 1958 to encourage the study and appreciation of the Pettaquamscutt region. Located in the Old Washington County Jail, the PHS museum and archival collections document the domestic, social, business, and cultural life in the region of the Pettaquamscutt Purchase. PHS offers educational programming and exhibitions that inspire the study and interpretation of this area’s history. POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY The Museum Assistant will work directly with PHS visitors, members, and leadership as a docent by assisting with daily museum operations. When not giving tours, he/she will assist with research projects and organizational tasks. Volunteers will be provided training on how to guide in a historic site. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Lead accurate and engaging museum tours for the general public (up/down stairs), assist staff researching through objects, documents, and photographs, support daily museum operations, including staffing the museum gift shop, and assist with special events and programs as needed, QUALIFICATIONS:Strong interpersonal and communication skills o Interest in history, museums, and preservation and research skills.
