Curriculum

Updated November 13, 2020

Students are required to take both online courses from Tufts and local courses at BNU. First year students and graduate students should take the majority of their courses from Tufts with advice from your advisor. Students will be able to enroll in all the listed courses open to visiting students at BNU for which they meet the pre-requisites. Students are required to take at least 4 but no more than 12 credits of BNU courses.

Students will receive Tufts credits (SHUs), grades, and a Tufts transcript for the Tufts and BNU courses towards the degree programs at Tufts, provided that the courses are pre-approved by the relevant Tufts department and the students’ grades meet minimum transfer credit requirements. You should work with your advisor to help choose your courses.

The list of courses for visiting students will be available at the end of the fall semester. We will send it to you as soon as we get it from BNU. Meanwhile, you can visit https://www.bnu.edu.cn/ for additional information on majors and courses at BNU. You can also review fall semester course lists at https://sites.tufts.edu/tuftsatbnu/courses/. Keep in mind that spring semester courses will be different. Please discuss your study plan with your Advising Dean/ Faculty Advisor.

Additional Curriculum Information for Graduate Students

Graduate students should take the majority of their courses from Tufts. For any questions please contact gradserve@tufts.edu or your academic advisor. Students will be able to enroll in all the listed courses open to visiting students at BNU for which they meet the pre-requisites. Students are required to take at least 4 but no more than 12 credits of BNU courses.

As an additional accommodation, graduate students who enroll for this first time this spring will be allowed to take three additional courses under the 100 level, while pursuing a master’s degree at the Tufts campus in the U.S., at no additional cost. This can help you to distribute your educational experience over two years instead of one, should you wish to extend your studies in the U.S. when you are able to travel.
