Massachusetts Environmental Health & Justice Organizer, Clean Water Action (Boston, MA)

Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund will be hiring a part-time Environmental Health & Justice Organizer in our Boston office to support the organizations’ Massachusetts campaigns to prevent harm to our health from toxic chemicals.

Clean Water Action is a national, grassroots environmental organization that works to protect the environment and safeguard public health, promote passage of strong environmental laws, and help communities address local environmental problems affecting them.  Clean Water Fund is a national research and education organization which promotes the public interest on issues related to water, waste, and toxics. Top issue priorities include: preventing harm to our health from toxic chemicals, reducing water pollution from storm water, promoting energy efficiency and clean energy, advocating for Zero Waste policies in the City of Boston, and holding our policymakers accountable.  Ensuring that those most affected by environmental degradation have a voice at the table, and that solutions to environmental problems contribute to broader goals of justice for all, are central goals in all campaigns.

Climate Resilience Program Manager, Mystic River Watershed Association (Arlington, MA)

The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) is seeking a committed, creative, and organized Climate Resilience Project Manager to help launch the Social Resiliency working group for the 14-community Regional Mystic Collaborative (RMC).  

MyRWA was founded in 1972 to protect, restore, and celebrate the Mystic River, its tributaries and watershed lands for the benefit of present and future generations.  Over the past half-century, we have worked closely with watershed communities on water quality, flood management and healthy open space. These shared skills and relationships have now led to the founding of the Resilient Mystic Collaborative (RMC), a 14-community partnership focused on preparing our people and places for the increased heat, drought, flooding and storms associated with an unpredictable and rapidly changing climate.

Felipe Floresca “High-Road” Fellowship, Emerald Cities Collaborative (various locations)

Washington D.C., Oakland, San Francisco, and Seattle

The Felipe Floresca Fellowship Program provides a 12-month [September 2019-August 2020] experiential learning program in implementing sustainable energy, water and food projects that include and benefit low-income and communities of color. The program provides a $50,000 annual stipend plus benefits.

For 12 months, fellows will work directly on projects in one of its offices, and participate in skills training, benefit from cross-site/sector peer learning, and with a cohort of fellows work on a national policy initiative. The fellows will be exposed to the work of its coalition members nationally and locally; and gain knowledge in the design and development of: energy efficiency and renewable energy projects; community water infrastructure projects, and local sustainable food systems.

Student Internship, Central Mass Grown (CMG)- Worcester, MA

The growing non-profit focused on farmers in greater Massachusetts, Central Mass Grown (CMG), is seeking a student intern to work 5-15 hours a week, starting September 2019. Tasks from CMG position post:

  • Processing and sending membership dues notifications (fall)
  • Assist with Distribution of Farm Products Guide (spring)
  • Database Management (access or oracle) – updates and management
  • Represent CMG at events & conferences throughout region (NOFA, FarmFresh Fest, etc.) *may include some weekend events if available
  • Outreach efforts including mailing, distribution of print materials (flyers, etc.)
  • Creation and distribution of weekly electronic newsletters (multiple)
  • Assist ED with planning and implementation of workshop series and events for farmers and consumers
  • Member outreach and ongoing support efforts
  • Attend regional and statewide food policy, food systems, and networking events (with ED); & CMG Board Meetings (if desired)
  • Other tasks as needed
