Climate Center Consultant, Cal State East Bay (Remote)

The Department of Health Sciences wants to hire a consultant to support the development of our application for the Center on Climate Change, Health and Sustainable Futures (“Center”). This support is necessary for the Department to achieve its objectives, strategic plan and mission.  The consultant will provide the dedicated support to the faculty and will support an inter-department collaborative process to develop the strategic plan and Academic Senate application.  This consultant is necessary as no faculty or staff have the assigned time or duties to perform these tasks which are also of a short duration, i.e. less than 1 year.

Ecology Camp Counselor, City of Evanston (Evanston, IL)

The City of Evanston seeks Ecology Camp Counselors. Counselors will be responsible for the supervision and safety of children ages 5-13 and basic camp day instruction; including planning and leading of games, activities and science/nature education to these children. Responsible for the supervision of assistant counselors and volunteers. Responsible for communication with the camp director/program coordinator concerning these individuals.

Solid Waste Coordinator, Cook County Department of Environment and Sustainability (Chicago, IL)

Under the general supervision, confers with and reports directly to the Environmental Control Director. Coordinates solid waste planning efforts of suburban Cook County municipalities. Supportive of the department’s role in solid waste management (i.e. disposal, recycling, and source reduction of solid waste materials). Interacts with EPA
officials, local solid waste agencies, and local municipalities in order to coordinate waste information, and to appraise the Director of status/progress on various projects. Provides expertise relative to the County’s business procedures through review of the Cook County Solid Waste Management Plan, in terms of long-range goals, to address solid waste problems in an environmentally safe and financially feasible manner. Effectively recommends advisories of proposed legislation which are forwarded to County officials in accordance with priorities established in conjunction with the Environmental Control Director.

Entry-Level Water Right Specialist, Aspect Consulting (Various cities in Washington State)

Aspect Consulting, LLC, an earth science and engineering consulting firm, has an exciting opportunity for an entry-level water right specialist with experience and interest leading to licensure as a Certified Water Right Examiner. Watershed Stewards Program Corpsmember (Fisheries and Restoration Technician), California Conservation Corps (California)

During their service, Watershed Stewards Program (WSP) Corpsmembers participate in a wide array of activities, including:

  • Regular watershed recovery and protection work which may include:
    • Field surveys of spawning grounds, habitat, or wildlife
    • Riparian restoration including planting and native species removal
    • Data entry and analysis
    • Trapping of juvenile or adult fish for counting and measurement
    • Computer modeling of natural resource data
    • Designing in-stream projects
    • Helping to remove fish passage barriers (dams, culverts)

  • Teaching the Wonders of Watersheds (WOW!) curriculum in K-8 classrooms in underserved communities
  • Engaging their service community in watershed outreach and education
