Intern (Cities and Climate Change), United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) (Nairobi, Kenya)

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme, UN-Habitat, is the agency for human settlements. It is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities with the goal of providing adequate shelter for all.

Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual’s background; the intern’s assigned office as well as the internship period.

Under the general supervision of the Branch Coordinator, reporting to the Programme Management Officer the intern will:

– Assist in planning and implementing climate change adaptation and mitigation projects, in particular supporting the Flagship programme [RISE UP]: Resilient Settlement for the Urban Poor; Promoting Low-Emission Development Strategies, and the Cities and Climate Change Initiative.

– Research on contemporary topics related to cities, climate change and sustainable urbanization, with a view to support production of normative publications and review UN-Habitat outputs with a view to extract and capture relevant knowledge and experiences.

– Support the planning, preparation, and delivery of outreach and other public events, assist in communications and social media presence.

– Support drafting of material and stories for the team.

– Support tasks relevant to candidate and the Team, as jointly determined.

Sustainability Technology & Management Adjunct Instructor, Jackson College (Jackson, MI)

Jackson College is seeking a Sustainability & Management Adjunct Instructor to teach courses in Sustainability Technology and Management based on instructor’s qualifications.

Responsibilities Include: Evaluating and grading students’ class work, assignments and papers. Preparing and delivering instructional materials (i.e. syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts) in person and/or on-line. Initiating, facilitating, and moderating classroom discussions. Compiling, administering, and grading examinations. Participating in required reporting processes (i.e. grades, participation, etc.). Assisting students in connecting to college resources.

Internship (Natural Sciences Sector, Field), UNESCO (Various Locations)

UNESCO works to assist countries to invest in science, technology and innovation (STI), to develop national science policies, to reform their science systems and to build capacity to monitor and evaluate performance through STI indicators and statistics taking into account the broad range of country-specific contexts. The Intern will have the opportunity to learn and support the overall work of the sector/programme’s mission. The intern will be selected according to their specialization and needs of the sector.
