The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) serves as the public, environmental and occupational health laboratory for the State of Wisconsin. This position independently provides a wide variety of program support to administrative, supervisory and support services for the Environmental Health Division at the WSLH’s Agriculture Drive location.
Primary responsibilities include: provide a broad range of knowledge regarding water sampling and testing to effectively meet the needs of customers; look up results for customers; interpret results and make decisions that directly affect the general public based upon the rules and policies mandated by the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act Program (SDWA) and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WDNR); support the laboratory information management system (LIMS). Other duties include: detailed record keeping and verification of code and regulatory compliance using knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and regulations related to public health. This position also enters and verifies sample information in the LIMS and queries the database for sample information and status, and releases results to customers, which include federal and state agencies, particularly the WI Department of Natural Resources (WDNR) and WI Department of Health Services (WDHS), universities, public water systems, health departments and private homeowners. Additionally, this position provides data and information from the LIMS to WSLH analysts and other employees. This may include contacting customers in cases of missing information and provides feedback to customers on data.
