The Environment and Public Policy (EPP) Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR), a professional organization dedicated to enhancing the practice and public understanding of conflict resolution, in partnership with the Meadows Center for Water and the Environment, is seeking a fall intern. The purpose of the EPP Section is to support and enhance the field of alternative dispute resolution as a whole and to create opportunities to improve the skills of its members. Their cases range from small group to large multiparty cases, from site-specific to regulatory negotiations. The Meadows Center works to inspire research, innovation and leadership that ensures clean, abundant water for the environment and all humanity. The International Water Management Institute (IWMI) is seeking applications from young and enthusiastic students to explore global data sources, mainly satellite data, to develop algorithms and tools related to water risks and agricultural development.
At present, IWMI is implementing a Big Data framework by integrating remote sensing, ground observations and socioeconomic data to generate several knowledge products in the fields of agriculture, water and disaster risk management. Within the framework, the team has implemented several tools and products using Google Earth Engine (GEE), and is looking for interns to transfer GEE codes or develop new algorithms and tools that are adaptable in Amazon web services, which requires knowledge in Jupyter Notebook, and are easily scalable, automated and applicable over large areas. The interns will have an opportunity to work in the ongoing Digital Earth Africa program supported by the Helmsley Foundation.
