Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Program Officer (APO) that will fill a variety of roles at Boston LISC, including working with the Senior Program Officer for the Green Retrofit Initiative to help affordable housing owners understand energy use in their buildings and work toward implementing energy-saving retrofits. The APO will organize Green Retrofit Initiative network meetings, workshops and forums, work closely with the Initiative’s consultants and partners, and support participating organizations to ensure program goals are met.

Director of Sustainability, Swarthmore College (Swarthmore, PA)

Swarthmore College invites nominations and applications for the position of Director of Sustainability. Reporting directly to the President of the College, the Director will lead the College’s sustainability efforts, developing and implementing policies and programs to mitigate the College’s environmental impact and to build awareness of the connection between issues of sustainability and social justice. This includes helping to establish Swarthmore as a recognized leader in integrating sustainability into all aspects of the educational mission, operations, and institutional and community life/culture. The Director of Sustainability provides leadership to the many distinct sustainability efforts on campus and fosters a culture of sustainability among students, faculty, staff, alumni, community members, and the Board of Managers.

The successful candidate will be innovative and collaborative with excellent strategic, leadership, and team-building skills and will have broad knowledge of sustainability principles, best practices, and their application in the higher education/institutional environment. Campus Sustainability Coordinator, EcoMotion Campus Services (Cambridge, MA)

EcoMotion designs and implements sustainability programs for cities, corporations and campuses. Both of EcoMotion’s offices, one located in Los Angeles, California and one located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, work with K-12 schools and higher education institutions. We provide a suite of services ranging from comprehensive sustainability coordination, sustainability planning and policy implementation, operational efficiency and renewable energy expertise, to behavior change programs and community engagement. EcoMotion’s Campus Services is looking for a skilled, entrepreneurial, and passionate individual to join the New England team in managing existing accounts (in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Maine) and expanding the business. As the business continues to develop, this position will evolve with the Campus Sustainability Coordinator aptitude and capabilities.

The Campus Sustainability Coordinator will report to the Director and the Associate Director of Campus Services in dealing with all business related activity including: project management and coordination, client relations, campus outreach and engagement, administrative tasks, scheduling, delivering presentations, writing reports and proposals. Waste Diversion Manager, UCSD (San Diego, CA)

The Waste Diversion Manager will draft and implement a campus plan for accomplishing diversion of solid waste from landfill according to UC Office of the President requirements and taking into account campus stakeholder needs and desires. Diversion methods may include but are not limited to reuse, recycling, composting, and other diversion and disposal technology. Of special interest are methodologies that accomplish closed loop use of resources and energy recovery.

The Waste Diversion Manager will:

  • Manage all aspects of Campus-wide Integrated Waste Management Program. Plan, organize, and coordinate all waste disposal and recycling activities and resources at UC San Diego. Establish annual goals for waste minimization and recycling, and serve as advisor and consultant to campus departments and organizations engaged in recycling programs. Supervise, direct and provide guidance to recycling staff members.
  • Provide counsel and discipline to staff, when necessary. Administer contracts made with waste management and recycling vendors. Work closely with Local, State and Federal government agencies to monitor and analyze changes in waste disposal and recycling industries. Lead, including providing administrative and technical support to campus Waste Minimization Advisory Committee.
