Human Subjects Research Policies

Many policies and regulations govern the Tufts Health Sciences IRB and Human Research Protection Program (HRPP).

HS IRB Investigatior Manual

This “INVESTIGATOR MANUAL (HRP-103)” is designed to guide you through policies and procedures related to the conduct of Human Research that are specific to this institution. General information regarding Human Research protections and relevant federal regulations and guidance is incorporated into the required human protections training.

PI Eligibility Policy

A Principal Investigator (PI) is the individual responsible for carrying out a scientifically sound, ethical research study consistent with the research plans approved by an IRB. The PI must possess the expertise, time and commitment to conduct and provide the necessary oversight for all aspects of the study, and must be willing to accept full responsibility for the study, including the supervision of any co-investigators, research staff and students. At TUSDM, students may not be PI.
