Instructional Design Assistant (Fall 2023 Internship)

The Instructional Design Assistant will be working closely with our Instructional Design team to assist in the development and delivery of online and blended programs offered by Tufts University.  The intern will have the opportunity to work in various aspects of online course design and will gain valuable experience working with educational professionals, educational technology, and the technical side of course development. 

Duration: 9/5/23 – 12/15/23 (flexible)
Hours Per Week: 10-12 hours (flexible)
Days of Work & Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
Pay Rate: $18-20.00/hour

Internship Description
The Instructional Design Assistant will be working closely with our Instructional Design team to assist in the development and delivery of online and blended programs offered by Tufts University. The intern will have the opportunity to work in various aspects of online course design and will gain valuable experience working with educational professionals, educational technology, and the technical side of course development. This is a term-based position for the Fall 2023 with potential to extend into the Spring 2024 semester.

Internship Responsibilities
Under close supervision and guidance, responsibilities include:
• Assist with the building of new courses in the Canvas learning environment using content provided by the academic program
• Assist with the quality assurance review of courses in Canvas using a standardized checklist and procedure
• Provide maintenance support for existing courses on an as-needed basis
• Assist with planning and facilitating training and other faculty development events
• Provide support on select projects for the Design or Video team as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to efficiently manage time, multi-task as needed, and effectively navigate shifting priorities
• Familiarity with MS Office, Google Drive, and basic Canvas features
• High level of comfort with technology and ability to upskill rapidly
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Customer focus
Desired Qualifications
• Interest or experience in online learning, instructional design, or instructional technology
• Interest or knowledge of basic graphic design or web design
