FINDING RESOURCES:
Tisch Library created a Research Guide for this class to locate newspaper and magazine articles, peer-reviewed literature, images, and sound files. There is ample information about how to use search engines, citation guidelines, copyright information, and various databases of creative content.
It is expected that groups will research and use both primary and secondary source literature.
- Primary source materials include: peer reviewed articles, conference proceedings, reports.
- Secondary source materials include: review articles, newspaper articles, books/book chapters, textbooks.
It is encouraged to incorporate newspaper and magazine articles as secondary sources. Through Tisch, students have access to archived articles of many publications. Incorporating journalism is one great way of relating your video’s topic to public opinion and current events.
Lastly, the guide overviews copyright law for images, video, and audio – all essential parts to composing a complete digital story. Make sure that you are abiding by proper licensing of all the media you incorporate, and use your best judgement whenever possible.
CITING RESOURCES:
For this project, we will be using the Conservation Biology citation style.
The Research Guide has a Citation Format page with more information, including a detailed author guide and easy-to-use examples relevant to the project. Your group is welcome to use citation tools, such as Zotero, or create your citations manually.
