Center Assistant – Tsongas Industrial History Center (part-time/non-benefited)

General Summary of Position: The staff person in this position handles clerical tasks required for the smooth operation of the Tsongas Industrial History Center. This position’s duties include purchasing and invoicing, summer camp registration and payment, and collection of visitation data. Scheduling of the 20 hours/week can be flexible.
This is a part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position and is contingent upon funding.
The TIHC is a partnership between UMass Lowell and Lowell National Historical Park. A field trip destination, the TIHC is located in the Boott Cotton Mills Museum (3rd fl.), 115 John St., Lowell.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications (Required): -High school diploma, GED or equivalent-Minimum 2 years’ prior experience in office setting, especially with data collection and management, use of computer-based systems for purchasing and invoice processing
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups-Proficient in use of computer software such as Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel) and Filemaker Pro to collect and share accurate statistics, keep accurate and detailed purchasing records-Ability to process invoices and payment vouchers (working with Accounts Payable), make and track credit card purchases, input requisitions, collect and process checks for garage parking
-Excellent interpersonal skills
Other Considerations: -Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Ability to project a professional departmental image when interacting with others in person, or by e-mail or telephone
