Salary range: mid $30’s to $40

Job Summary:

The Museum Events Manager organizes coordinates and cultivates sponsors for museum’s social and special events, from exhibitions previews to community festivals.   The position also provides marketing and sponsorship strategies for rentals and food services.

Essential Functions:

  • Manages and coordinates all museum sponsored events and programs that create, and support cultural and culinary programming for members and public.
  • Promote the rental program of the museum facilities to corporations, travel-tourism industry, and other appropriate customers;
  • Oversees the building rental program, acts as liaison between renters and caterers; in addition to training and supervising event vendors/specialists.
  • Create the marketing strategies of museum food services including the museum restaurant, dining research and development.
  • Liaison for the restaurant, as well as, kitchen research, quality control and supervision of the museum restaurant vendors.
Requirements

Education and Experience:

A Bachelor’s degree is required.

A minimum of three years non-profit work experience is required, preferably in events planning or support.

Experience establishing and maintaining a master calendar and schedule is required.

Basic bookkeeping skills are a plus.

Fluency in Spanish, including reading, writing, and speaking is desirable.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Candidate must demonstrate strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to work effectively with students, faculty, staff and a diverse community.

Strong attention to detail.

Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.

Candidate must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.

Must have the ability to problem solve and seek resources for solutions.

Candidate must possess a strong working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).

Evening and weekend museum events attendance is required.

Physical/Environmental Demands:

Position must have the ability to Bend, Reach above shoulders, sit for long periods of time, Push/Pull and Carry/lift 25-50 lbs.
