Come join a team of dedicated staff at the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. The Archives of American Art is the preeminent institution documenting the history of art in America. Encompassing letters, sketchbooks, diaries, emails, photographs, and home movies from the 18th to the 21st centuries, it is the most comprehensive collection of its kind, representing generations of American artists, collectors, dealers, and scholars, including the largest inventory of art-related oral histories in the world. Broadening access to the Archives” collections in the virtual frontier has advanced digital humanities as the Archives has increasingly made more of its 20 million items available, free of charge, to the world on its website.

This position is located in the Archives” Washington, DC research center, and provides technical and administrative support to all aspects of the advancement program, including but not limited to donor relations and stewardship. This position includes responsibility for donor correspondence, newsletters, and events; gift processing, agreements, and records reconciliation; database records and reports; grant applications and reporting schedules; and research.


Requirements

Qualified candidates will successfully demonstrate strong communications skills, an ability to successfully manage multiple deadlines, superior organization skills, and an ability to work with different types of people successfully. Strong writing skills are essential. Experience in a development office is preferred.
