Description

The American Alliance of Museums seeks a strong project manager with excellent administrative skills to help facilitate the Museums Connect grant program, a museum and community cultural exchange program funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (DOS/ECA).  Supporting the Alliance’s global programs, the Program Manager will primarily focus on administration of the grant to include advising museums during the proposal stage and project activities stage of the grant cycle; managing funder stewardship and reporting duties; participant recruitment and program promotion.  This position supports both US and non-US museums and ensures the smooth logistics of their participation as well as compliance with all deadlines and grant requirements to funders at the Department of State.

Requirements

Requires at least two years of experience in a nonprofit or public sector environment; excellent communication skills (written and oral); strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with staff, participants, diverse communities, museum professionals, funders, and other constituents; flexibility in coordinating a variety of projects in a quick-paced operational environment; Bachelor’s degree and mastery of Microsoft Office programs.

Ideal candidate will have experience with international exchange and cultural diplomacy and/or with museum/arts/cultural operations; experience with federal grant management and grant compliance/reporting; familiarly with social media applications for professional uses and previous international experience preferred and/or foreign language competencies.
