Community Engagement Intern

Historic Newton, a city/nonprofit partnership in Newton, MA, that operates two museums and an archive, is seeking a volunteer or intern to assist the Community Engagement Manager.
The Community Engagement Manager handles publicity and public programs for Historic Newton. The individual selected for the position could assist with the following tasks:
– Researching and updating our press list
– Creating Facebook posts based on our artifacts and other interesting aspects of Newton history
– Creating Tweets based on Newton history or Historic Newton events
– Researching and creating an hour long walking tour in Newton
– Designing flyers and other publicity materials
Work is to be completed on-site at the Jackson Homestead and Museum (527 Washington Street in Newton) and off-site, with flexible hours.
Although we cannot offer financial compensation, this position would be a wonderful addition to the resume of anyone interested in public relations, marketing social media, or archival research. We are also happy to provide future recommendations.
Qualifications:
Interest in public relations, marketing social media, or archival research with commitment to work in museums. Experience with marketing, press, social media, working with the public and historic research encouraged. Knowledge of Adobe Suite a plus. Strong written and verbal skills a must.
