Landscape Assistant, Boston Region

Historic New England seeks a Landscape Assistant for the Boston Region who will work with the Landscape Manager, Boston Region to care for the landscapes of Historic New England’s Metro-Boston properties with primary focus on the Codman Estate, Gropius House, and the Lyman Estate and subsidiary care responsibilities for the remaining properties in the area. All of the properties are open to the public as historic house museums. The landscapes are to be maintained to preservation standards set by Historic New England for historic landscapes.

Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent education plus a minimum of one year of horticultural job-related experience. Experience with perennial gardening preferred. Computer skills including working knowledge of word processing, the use of e-mail, internet research, spreadsheets, and digital photography are required. Essential to success the candidate must be a self-starter; able to work independently and as part of a team; proven attention to detail and perform work with a high level of accuracy and care.

The position is full-time (40 hours per week) and will be based at the Lyman Estate, Waltham Mass. Valid driver’s license is required.
