ABOUT
The Chinese Historical Society of New England (CHSNE) is partnering with UMass Boston’s
Mass. Memories Road Show (MMRS) to collect memories of Chinese Immigration Experiences
in Massachusetts. On June 2, 2018, we will invite the public to bring family photos to be scanned
and added to UMass and CHSNE’s digital archives. Contributors will be invited to share “the
story behind the photos” on video, have their own “keepsake photo” taken, and receive advice
from professional archivists and historians on dating and caring for their family photos. A
planning committee led by CHSNE and representatives from greater Boston will organize and
publicize the event.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Serve as the point of contact between the committee members recruited from Chinese
American organizations in Boston, Quincy, Malden, and Metro West
• Work with CHSNE staff and MMRS to plan monthly committee meetings
• Record minutes at monthly committee meetings
• Support the committee’s recruitment of volunteers, translators and donations
• Provide day-of support for the volunteer training on June 1st and at the event on June 2nd
QUALIFICATIONS
• High level of organization
• Strong people skills
• Experience with working with diverse groups of people, including organizations,
individuals, and volunteers
• Computer skills including email, Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Dropbox
• Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin) skills a plus
• Available for 8-15/hrs week from January-June 2018 (flexible schedule), and all day on
June 1st and June 2nd

Position Description:

The Education Department of The Frick Collection is now accepting applications from graduate students for the Ayesha Bulchandani Internship Program for spring 2018. The intern will gain experience in the development and implementation of public programs for the Frick’s many audiences, with responsibilities that will include administrative and logistical coordination, research, and gallery teaching. Projects will be tailored to the intern’s academic and career interests. Additionally, the intern will attend a wide range of staff-led enrichment sessions, including introductions to the resources of the Frick Art Reference Library and talks and conversation with curators and educators. The internship will span one semester in Spring 2018. Activities will be carried out no less than two days a week.
Education at the Frick provides a vital, diverse, and probing dialogue between The Frick Collection and the public through a commitment to excellence in gallery teaching and an array of programs of the highest quality. This internship provides a superb opportunity for participating in all aspects of museum education work in a small, dynamic department.
Qualifications:

The Ayesha Bulchandani Internship is open to current graduate students pursuing degrees in art history, museum education, arts administration, museum studies, or other fields related to The Frick Collection. Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated interest in Western art and museum education.

Salary: $2,500/ semester. Activities will be carried out no less than two days a week.

Coordinator of School Partnerships and Teacher Programs [Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Boston, MA]

The Coordinator of School Partnerships and Teacher Programs will have the opportunity to help build and foster relationships with schools, teachers, students and their families by connecting them with the MFA’s global art collection and the education and enrichment possibilities that it can support through partnerships, workshops, and community-building events.  This position is responsible for coordinating the administrative aspects of the Museum’s partnerships with area schools, including the Visual Thinking Strategies/Boston Public Schools Partnership program and partnerships with independent schools.  This position is also responsible for handling logistics and assisting with implementation of teacher programs including evening workshops, customized workshops, and teacher professional development initiatives. Key Qualifications:  Bachelor Degree; 1-3 years professional working experience, preferably in an urban public school system, previous training in Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) a plus; availability 2-3 evenings a month.

The New Hampshire Boat Museum (NHBM) www.nhbm.org, with a mission to inspire an understanding and
appreciation of the unique role New Hampshire’s lakes play in people’s lives, seeks an experienced and enthusiastic
Executive Director to take it to its next level. NHBM, located in Wolfeboro, on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee in
the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire, just marked its 25th anniversary and is undertaking a capital
campaign to construct a new museum building and increase its endowment. The new director will have the
opportunity to work with the Board to complete the campaign, which is currently in the non-public phase, and to
oversee the creation of the new museum facility on lakefront property that the NHBM has recently purchased. The
new building will allow the museum to develop additional exhibits and experience-based educational programs to
carry out its goals of celebrating the history and stories of life on New Hampshire’s lakes and providing programs
that focus on learning through doing for people of all ages.
Opportunities of the Position
• Be part of a team that will create a new museum that will enable the NHBM to carry out its recently
expanded mission of interpreting the multi-faceted story of New Hampshire’s lakes, from boating to social
and cultural history to environmental stewardship and ecology.
• Work with a dedicated Board and Capital Campaign Committee to complete the $5.5 million Just Add Water
campaign for a new facility and an endowment.
• Have a significant positive impact on a museum that is “on the cusp of something great” and truly make a
difference in a museum and the community and region that it serves.

Required knowledge, experience, and abilities
Academic Background
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Master’s degree in museum studies or similar field preferred.
• Knowledge of/interest in the history of boats, American history, marine environments and ecology a plus.
Experience
• 7-10 years of museum experience, including at least 3 in management. Small museum experience desirable.
• Knowledge of and experience with sound business/museum financial management practices; willingness to
adopt a conservative approach to finances.
• Track record of developing proactive, entrepreneurial, and innovative approaches to problem solving.
• Strong marketing and public relations experience, with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and
communities. Fluency in current social media for communication and marketing preferred.
• Proven track record as a fundraiser. Experience with a capital campaign highly desirable.

• Experience with exhibit development helpful.
• Knowledge of best professional practices in all areas of the museum field.
Abilities
• Desire to work in a small museum and a willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done.
• Desire to lead, inspire, and motivate a small but enthusiastic staff, an active, engaged board with a
willingness to expand their knowledge of the museum field, and a large dedicated volunteer corps.
• Willingness to work hard to ensure the success of the many different programs and events that take place
during the busy summer season (Memorial Day through Labor Day). This includes the ability to undertake
moderate physical activity and work some evenings and weekends in season.

Position Description:

Roles and Responsibilities:
School Programs at Wave Hill connect students to the natural world with high quality, personal, and hands-on experiences. The School Programs Coordinator and Educator (Coordinator) leads the coordination of program logistics for groups participating in our pre-K through 6 school programs throughout the year, and camp groups during the summer. The Coordinator develops and teaches programs for students from pre-K to 12th grade, and works closely with other staff to develop and teach professional development programs for teachers. He/she also trains and supervises interns.
The Coordinator facilitates the successful delivery of single-visit programs for visiting school groups at Wave Hill; supervises interns and part-time staff as needed; coordinates logistics of moving multiple groups through the grounds; manages and maintains supplies; and researches and writes pedagogically-appropriate lesson plans and activities to support our programs. The Coordinator may work with the Family Art Project and Public Programs staff to plan and facilitate family programming, and with Youth Programs staff to facilitate activities for the teen summer internship programs. The Coordinator will participate in other departmental and institutional programs as needed.
The Coordinator must have experience teaching children in an informal setting, and be comfortable interacting with groups of children out of doors and in a classroom setting. The individual should have familiarity with art education and natural science topics, and be highly flexible.

• Experience teaching children in a non-traditional educational setting, preferably in an outdoor setting
• Degree in education, art education, museum education, or related field; advanced degree preferred
• Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Background in the arts, natural sciences, environmental education, or related field
• Experience teaching middle school students preferred
• Experience training or teaching adults is a plus
• Proficiency in Spanish or other language is a plus

Salary: Salary is in the low $30K range, commensurate with experience.
