Summer 2020 Sustainability Fellowships (5 Positions Available), MIT Office of Sustainability (Cambridge, MA)

The MIT Office of Sustainability (MITOS) is currently seeking student applicants for 5 full-time, hourly paid Sustainability Fellowships for Summer 2020. Join a dynamic, collaborative office that is developing MIT’s next generation vision of campus sustainability.   • Hours: Full time, 35 hours/week, 10 weeks – June though August 2020
  • Pay Range: $17-$20/hour
  • Open to: Upper-level undergraduate and graduate students: Current MIT and non-MIT students

RAY Conservation Diversity Fellow: Climate-Ready Fisheries, Ocean Conservancy (Washington, DC)

Inspired by efforts to increase racial diversity in conservation and clean energy, the Roger Arliner Young (RAY) Diversity Fellowship Program aims to increase and facilitate environmentally-related career pathways for emerging leaders of color. The RAY Fellowship Program is a paid fellowship designed to equip recent college graduates with the tools, experiences, support, and community they need to become leaders in the conservation and clean energy sector—one that, in our visions of the future, fully represents, includes, and is led by the diverse communities, perspectives, and experiences of the United States.

Director of Sustainability, Centre College (Danville, KY)

Centre College seeks a Director of Sustainability to provide strategic direction to achieve targeted sustainability goals.  Although the primary role will be to improve college operations, the director will also contribute to sustainability education through student academic experiences, extra-curricular and co-curricular activities, and community outreach. The Director will report to the Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer of Centre College and work collaboratively with constituencies across the college.

Director of Sustainability, Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, VA)

The Director of Sustainability’s primary responsibilities include fostering a culture of sustainability among faculty, staff, and students; identifying and prioritizing areas for institutional sustainability efforts; planning and developing long- and short-range programs; and engaging with institutional leaders to foster sustainability broadly across campus units. A main function of the position is to reduce the VCU carbon footprint. The Director of Sustainability also coordinates with the University’s academic community to integrate sustainability into the curriculum. The Director of Sustainability will guide the University toward fulfilling its obligations to the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) through the aforementioned responsibilities. The Director of Sustainability will also be responsible for overseeing the VCU Free Store and ensure that the on-campus resource promotes equitable access to everyday needs.

Water Nexus Modeling for Jordan and Morocco, Tufts Institute of the Environment and Stockholm Environment Institute (Medford, MA)

This internship is a collaboration between the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) and Tufts Institute of the Environment and will take place during the 2020-21 academic year.

SEI is an international, non-profit, research organization that works to shift environmental policy and practice towards sustainability.

This unique opportunity allows TIE-SEI Interns to:

• work with SEI on a designated research project 

• participate in a series of TIE’s fellowship activities 

• network with colleagues and leaders in the field 

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has funded SEI to support the project: Implementing the 2030 Agenda for water efficiency/productivity and water sustainability in NENA countries. In this context, SEI is co-developing a water-energy-food nexus model for Jordan and Morocco that will assist both countries in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. Our role is to carry out participatory research, build capacity and support better policies towards the SDGs.
