CIERP’s commitment to carbon offsets for flights

Because our international engagement involves frequent travel, the Climate Policy Lab began a practice this year of purchasing carbon offsets for all flights. We encourage others to consider doing the same. There are many sites that offer this service, but here is one we have been using. You can also look for standards evaluated by groups like The Gold Standard or Green-e. Carbon offsets work by paying for climate and development interventions around the world, such as energy, transport, or waste infrastructure projects, community-based health and development programs, or sustainable land use initiatives. By minimizing travel to only the most necessary trips and buying carbon offsets, we can help offset our contribution to climate change.
