Position Description – CPL Climate Policy Performance Index Summer Internship(s)

The Climate Policy Lab of the Center for International Environment and Resource Policy (CIERP) is seeking one or two Fletcher student(s) for the Summer of 2020 to conduct research on our Climate Policy Performance Index (CPPI).  Ideally, the intern(s) will be available between  1 June – 16 August 2020.

The Project:

The intern(s) will primarily focus on working with CPL’s Director on a new Climate Policy Performance Index (CPPI).  This index is part of a global index on the performance of national (and potentially subnational) climate policies that could help guide climate investments, identify gaps in climate policy, assist in identification of best practices, and aid comparative research.  The tasks will include collecting relevant data of performance metrics related to climate policy and formulation of alternative approaches to the index.  It may also include developing an interactive website to show the indicators and allow users to visualize it.

This research work can be done remotely, with regular check-ins with the Director and/or other relevant researchers in the Lab.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled as a Fletcher student;
  • Well-versed in data analytics and GIS (ideally have taken the GIS course);
  • Familiar with climate and energy policy (preference given to those students who have taken Climate Change and Clean Energy Policy);
  • Computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite and knowledge of a variety of database programs);
  • Extremely thorough and pays attention to detail;
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.

Pay:

  • Internship stipend of $4,250
