THE ROLE

Reporting to the General Manager, this position will be responsible for the management of Warehouse staff along with the physical spaces of the Landover facility. In addition, the position will require working with the Storage Manager in relation to operational scheduling and facility capacities. The position will also require working with the General Manager and Storage Manager to oversee and implement company processes and procedures in relation to department functions. Additional responsibilities include establishing and approving maintenance projects as necessary, overseeing and establishing all work orders (internal operations to client activity) and preemptively working with the Storage Manager to determine temporary role coverage for instances where the Warehouse Manager and/or the Storage Manager will be absent.

Job Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Warehousing/Storage
    1. Management of Warehouse Technicians including hiring, scheduling and timekeeping, training, and disciplinary actions;
    2. Assess storage space capacities;
    3. Advising the Storage Manager on estimation of jobs and storage;
    4. Implementation and oversight of operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventories current;
    5. Performs Site Visits as needed;
    6. Manages, schedules and coordinates warehouse space and internal operations;
    7. Monitors on a daily/weekly basis the warehouse labor activity to insure that all appropriate billing is captured;
    8. Supports Storage Manager in maintaining excellent storage-client relationships;
    9. Works with Storage Manager to address inquiries of prospective and existing storage clients;
    10. Supports TSA Facility Principal with coordinating training of staff, TSA screenings, and maintaining of DSA spaces.
  2. Facility
    1. Establishes and approves maintenance projects as necessary;
    2. Inspects physical condition of the buildings structure, internally and externally and consults with facility manager and safety/OSHA manager on findings;
    3. Ensures all equipment is working properly and has been serviced accordingly;
    4. Prepares work orders for repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment;
    5. Confers with all department managers to ensure coordination of facility activities in regards to maintenance needs, or budgeted projects and purchasing;
    6. Directs salvage of damaged or used material;
    7. Participates in planning personnel safety and drill activities, such as fire drills, emergency evacuation plans, and quarterly reports of those activities.
  3. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience and competencies and attributes as minimum qualifications:

EDUCATION: High school diploma.

EXPERIENCE: 5-7 years of working experience in a warehouse setting; higher advanced degree in related field combined with experience a plus.

COMPETENCIES AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of warehouse management and art storage;
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate problems and issues;
  • Must be able to balance the needs of customers against the needs of the organization and vice versa;
  • Extremely strong oral and written communications skills.  Must be able to give constructive criticism in a positive, productive and professional manner;
  • Ability to work with confidential information.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE (strongly preferred):

  • General knowledge of management responsibility for a single function.
  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, FileMaker, Google Docs.

COMPENSATION:

The compensation package will be commensurate with education and experience.
