Marketing and Communications Intern (Museum of Fine Arts)

The Communications team (Creative, Database Marketing, Marketing and Public Relations) at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA), promotes the MFA’s collection, exhibitions and programs through outreach to local, national and international press, print and digital advertising,  management of social media channels with over 1.3 million followers, and email marketing.

The team is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented intern with strong writing skills and an interest in pursuing a career in communications. Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Officer, the intern will become integrated into the daily operations of the Marketing and Communications team, gaining valuable practical skills and workplace experience.

Through mentorship from a team of experienced professionals and experience in a fast-paced environment, the student will gain valuable practical skills for a future career in communications. They will also have opportunities to grow their professional networks through interactions with colleagues and interns from departments across the Museum.

The intern must commit to work onsite 12-20 hours per week (within Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm parameters), from Jan 19 through Apr 26, 2024, including attendance at the Museum Pathways & Practices professional development course from 12-2pm on the following Fridays: Jan 26, Feb 2, Feb 16, Feb 23, Mar 1, Apr 5, Apr 12, and Apr 19.

The intern will be paid at a rate of $16.00 per hour.

As we amplify our efforts toward becoming a truly inclusive institution, ensuring that diversity, equity, and access are lived values, we actively encourage candidates from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds to apply to the program.
