After the start of the war and the announcement of mobilization, at least half a million Russians left the country and remained to live abroad. Journalists obtained such data by analyzing statistics on the issuance of short-term and long-term residence permits to Russians in other countries. Those who left the Russian authorities are called “traitors” and now the State Duma is proposing to confiscate the property of emigrants, especially those who condemn Russia’s military aggression against Ukraine. Recently, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said that legislative work on this issue is already underway.
