Fletcher Eurasia Club Lunch Seminar: Yury Terekhov on Grassroots Anti-War Resistance in Russia

Please join the Fletcher Eurasia Club for a lunch seminar with visiting scholar Yury Terekhov, who has worked with various Russian opposition figures and whose research focuses on nation-building and civil society in Russia. He will discuss the grassroots anti-war movement inside Russia, anti-war initiatives in the Russian diaspora, and Russia’s rising ethnic tensions.

We encourage you to read in advance his report on surveying Russian anti-war resistance practices and the following articles on the anti-war movement’s strength and potentialthe hesitation behind domestic participation in anti-war demonstrationsreasons behind Russian society’s high level of support for the war, and recent protests in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The Eurasia Club weekly lunch seminar series engages with students, faculty, staff, and researchers to foster a better understanding of the region among members of the Fletcher community. Members of the wider Tufts community are also welcome to attend. Lunch will be served.

Yury Terekhov is a Visiting Scholar at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University. He earned his Master of Arts degree in International Relations from the Jagiellonian University in Poland. With twelve years of professional experience in political and media management, he has worked with various notable figures in the Russian opposition, including Garry Kasparov, Alexei Navalny, and Mikhail Khodorkovsky. In 2022, he launched an initiative to promote the white-blue-white flag of the Russian anti-war protest movement. Yury is interested in researching anti-war grassroots resistance practices, democracy resilience, and nation-building.
