2nd MGIMO-Fletcher Conference on Russia-U.S. Relations

May 24, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 9:00 pm

The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University) cordially invite you to attend a conference on potential areas of cooperation between the United States and the Russian Federation. In recent years, Russian-American relations have deteriorated dramatically to a level of animosity unseen since the Cold War. Tensions between the two countries have increased across multiple issue areas, leading to an escalation of tit-for-tat retaliatory measures.

The first Fletcher-MGIMO conference on U.S.-Russia relations in November 2017 provided an opportunity to examine both the depth and scope of disagreements between Moscow and Washington. Building upon this audit, the second conference held in May 2018 is aimed at assessing the potential for cooperation in the areas of possible shared interests. The analyses developed in the conference can prove useful in preventing escalation and illuminating a path toward a more cooperative bilateral relationship in the longer term.

The conference is part of a larger, multiyear, overarching project on the bilateral relationship, sponsored by Carnegie Corporation of New York. We are thankful for the support of our partners and sponsors. When tweeting about the event, please use #FletcherMGIMO.
