Fletcher Eurasia Club Lunch Seminar: Nicole Grajewski on Russia’s Evolving Relations with Iran

February 14, 2023 @ 12:00 pm 1:30 pm

lease join the Fletcher Eurasia Club for a lunch seminar with Nicole Grajewski, a Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctoral Fellow with the Belfer Center for Science & International Affair’s Project on Managing the Atom at Harvard’s Kennedy School.

Since Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Moscow’s relations with Tehran have become a central focus of Russian foreign policy. As Russia seeks political and military support in the face of diplomatic isolation and battlefield weakness, Iran has emerged as a willing partner to support the Kremlin’s endeavors through the provision of drones and political support. We will explore the evolving nature of Russia’s relations with Iran, examining the key areas of cooperation between the two nations, including the military-technical sphere, sanctions evasion, information security, and regime survival. We will also delve into the contentious issue of the Iranian nuclear program and the extent of Russian-Iranian cooperation in the Middle East.

We encourage you to read her recent articles on Russia’s competition and cooperation with Iran, the Russia-Iran-Turkey summit last year, Iran’s growing ties with Russia amid its assault on Ukraine, and the myth of a Russia-China-Iran axis. The Eurasia Club weekly lunch seminar series engages with students, faculty, staff, and researchers to foster a better understanding of the region among members of the Fletcher community. Members of the wider Tufts community are also welcome to attend. Lunch will be served. Click here to register.
