Robin Brooks: U.S. Strategic Priorities in the Western Balkans

November 7 @ 12:00 pm 1:30 pm

Please join the Fletcher Eurasia Club for a lunch seminar about U.S. strategic priorities for the Western Balkans with Robin Brooks, former National Security Council Director for the Balkans and former Special Advisor on Europe for Vice President Kamala Harris. She will share firsthand insights on the U.S. approach to the EU-led process for normalization of Serbia-Kosovo relations and its evolution over time. She will also explore the transformation of U.S. bilateral relations with Serbia, Kosovo, and Bosnia and Herzegovina since the breakup of Yugoslavia.

We encourage you to read in advance the following piece about Brooks’ diplomatic career and articles by other experts about the need for Harris to develop a Balkans policy, the current state of Serbia-Kosovo relations, and NATO’s role in supporting Bosnia and Herzegovina’s security and defense capabilities.

The Eurasia Club weekly lunch seminar series engages with students, faculty, staff, and researchers to foster a better understanding of the region among members of the Fletcher community. Members of the wider Tufts community are also welcome to attend. Please register via myFletcher to attend the event in person or let us know if you would like to attend virtually. If you would like to submit discussion questions for the speaker in advance, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Lunch will be served following the conversation. Please let us know if you have any dietary restrictions, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Robin S. Brooks, Ph.D., is the current State Department Fellow at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University and former Special Advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris for Europe, Eurasia, Multilateral Affairs, and Democracy.
