SVDG Talks: Semiconductors & National Security. Part I: Why Semiconductor Manufacturing Matters

By Silicon Valley Defense Group featuring Chris Miller, Associate Professor of International History at The Fletcher School, and author of Chip War: The Fight for the World’s Most Critical Technology

Recently, hashtag#SVDG‘s Jacqueline Tame had an opportunity to sit down with two of the world’s leading hashtag#semiconductor experts to discuss the hashtag#ChipWar in which we currently find ourselves, and its impact on hashtag#defense and hashtag#nationalsecurity. One question we debated during our time together was, “Are Chips the Oil of the 21st Century?” In the coming weeks, we will release a number of brief segments from our discussion as well as some written material, which we hope will help contextualize the geopolitical and hashtag#technosecurity landscape when it comes to hashtag#chips.

Here are The Fletcher School at Tufts University‘s Chris Miller, author of “Chip War: The Fight for the World’s Most Critical Technology” and Stanford Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation co-founder, Steve Blank explaining why there’s such a new sense of urgency around the hashtag#semiconductor industry; how the industry is structured; who the major players are; and why semiconductors are critical to our hashtag#economy and hashtag#nationalsecurity.
