Alumni Groups

The Fletcher community prides itself on a robust alumni network that remains connected long after graduation, and offers support and mentorship to current Fletcher students as they embark on their professional paths. The below alumni groups specifically focus on gender and intersectional analysis and women’s leadership:

Fletcher Women’s Leadership Award

YEARS ACTIVE: 2014 – PRESENT

Established in 2014, the Fletcher Women’s Leadership Award (FWLA) honors outstanding women graduates for achieving a meaningful impact in the world through their work in the public and private sectors. Mid-career professionals demonstrating leadership and making a significant contribution within their chosen field are eligible for nomination through a community-wide forum. Award candidates are evaluated annually in two categories by the Fletcher Board of Advisors, which presents a Public Sector Award and a Private Sector Award to two exceptional alumni each year.

For a complete list of FWLA recipients, see here.

Fletcher Women’s Network (FWN)

YEARS ACTIVE: 2015 – PRESENT

With active communities on both Facebook and LinkedIn, the Fletcher Women’s Network offers a platform for women graduates of the Fletcher School to connect, share news and opportunities of interest, and foster a network of support and solidarity between graduates across generations and classes. Led by a volunteer Steering Committee and supported by local chapter groups, FWN membership is free and automatic for all Fletcher women graduates, who are added to a dedicated listserv by the Office of Development and Alumni Engagement upon graduation. The network aims to support members’ “professional and personal development and enhance…opportunities to contribute to [one’s] local, national and global community.”1 As FWN aptly outlines on both member platforms: “We are dedicated to creating a respectful, open, and intellectually stimulating environment to advance our voices and perspectives while enriching and inspiring one another.”2

The Initiative for Women’s International Leadership (IWIL)

YEARS ACTIVE: 2012 – UNKNOWN

Founded by a group of women on the Fletcher Board of Advisors, the Initiative for Women’s International Leadership aimed to address “why, with all their talent, women were outperformed by men in public and intellectual leadership in international affairs.”3

Fletcher students and alumnae attended a training on gender and public speaking with Chris Jahnke, sponsored by the alumni-led Initiative for Women’s International Leadership in 2013.
