Leir Talks @ Fletcher with Michele Klein: The Future of Migration Governance in Uncertain Times

Michele Klein, Advanced Leadership (ALI) Fellow Harvard 2025. Michele Klein, Advanced Leadership (ALI) Fellow Harvard 2025. Michele Klein spent 25 years in leadership roles at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), most recently serving as IOM’s Regional Director for Central and North America and the Caribbean. She previously served as Director of Migration Policy and Research for nearly a decade;  led the agency’s efforts on the development of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration; established and led the International Dialogue on Migration; led the Secretariat of the Migrants in Countries in Crisis Initiative and its production of guidelines and effective practices; and served as IOM’s representative to the U.N. in New York. Prior to IOM, she was the principal refugee and migration lawyer for the U.S. State Department.

She will share her insights on how the reconfiguration of foreign assistance and global humanitarianism is likely to affect migration governance around the world. She will also discuss the impact on career paths for young professionals hoping to work in these spaces.

This event is open to members of the Fletcher and Tufts communities.
