We are looking for a babysitter this summer who is responsible and great with both babies and little kids for our two boys (ages 4 and 1!) for Wednesdays during the day (and possibly also Monday/ Tuesday/ Thursday afternoons!) We live right near Powder House Park in Somerville very close to Tufts. Responsibilities include: helping get them dressed and ready for the day, changing (the baby’s) diapers, feeding them lunch/ snacks, taking them on walks and to the library or playground, etc. Both boys go to daycare/ preschool part-time and my 4 yr old will be starting full time pre-K in September. We are somewhat flexible with the hours but ideally looking for someone who could work every Wednesday from around 9-4, and also possibly Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Occasional hours on Mondays (or Fridays) could also help, depending on your availability!
My older turned 4 in March and is very talkative and imaginative. He loves books and legos and playgrounds! My younger turned 1 in February and is crawling like a madman and getting into all sorts of mischief. Both are silly and fun (and occasionally a handful as all little kids are!)
Pay is $25/ hour. Looking for someone who has some experience caring for babies and kids and can start as soon as possible. Please reach out to me if you’re interested! Thank you!
In search of a friendly, confident and fun individual for evening/weekend babysitting for our three kids, ages 1, 5 and 9. Must have childcare experience and own transportation. $20-30/hour commensurate with experience. Please send an email to amelia dot leutz at gmail dot com indicating your interest and we can set up a time to talk and/or meet our family.
We’re looking for a reliable, energetic babysitter to help make our summer fun and memorable. I have two kids, ages 9 and 11, and we’re looking for someone who can take them on outings to the pool, museums, and other activities 2–3 times per week (typically 4–5 hours per day). Occasional evening babysitting for date nights would also be great.
Details:
Ages: 9 and 11
Schedule: 2–3 weekdays/week, ~4–5 hours per day
Activities: Pool trips, museum visits, other local outings
Occasional date night babysitting
Pay: $25–$30/hour, depending on experience
Must have own transportation and a clean driving record
Looking for someone who’s fun, patient, responsible, and proactive with planning outings. Previous childcare experience required.
To Apply: Please send a brief note with your availability, experience, and references.
We are looking for an occasional babysitter to help us cover school closures for our 3.5 and 1.5 year old girls. We are in Cambridgeport (about a 15 min walk from Central). Specifically looking for either half or full day coverage at our home for June 2nd and 3rd, and the weeks of August 18th and/or 25th during the weekdays. I might be working from home some of the time, or in the office. The job would involve playing and entertaining the kids, feeding them meals, and putting the younger one down for naps. No driving is required, and you’d have access to a stroller for walks, going to the park, etc which are all close by. Our older daughter is sweet and loves singing, dancing, and pretend play. Our younger daughter loves exploring wherever she is and making jokes. Both love the playground! We are a laid back family and are just looking for someone to have fun with our kids on their breaks so parents can get some work in. We do have two cats. Pay is $30-35/hr depending on experience. CPR/first aid certification preferred, up to date vaccines a must.
Dive In Commonwealth is a free summer and school-year program for high-achieving middle-school students from low-income communities across the greater Boston area. Starting the summer after sixth or seventh grade and lasting until the fall of their freshman year, Dive In students engage in accelerated coursework alongside exciting extracurriculars, preparing themselves for rigorous high-schools and the path to top colleges. Like our parent institution, Commonwealth School, Dive In empowers motivated students by offering enriching activities in a close-knit community of like-minded peers. Our unique urban campus is located in the heart of Boston’s historic Back Bay, easily accessible by public transportation.
Dive In Commonwealth seeks engaging and creative part-time ELA instructors to teach a dedicated writing-mechanics course. This twice-weekly class will supplement a daily English literature block and focus specifically on the fundamental principles of grammar, including lexical categories, sentence parts, and common stylistic errors. Instruction should emphasize practical application while demystifying the “nuts and bolts” of good writing. Three sections of the course corresponding to three cohorts (rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders) will be divided between two instructors; due to scheduling constraints, the two positions cannot be merged.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and deliver engaging, interactive lessons on the fine points of syntax and style, transforming potentially dry material into an exciting learning experience.
Design and implement creative activities that reinforce grammatical concepts through games, creative writing, and colorful examples from popular culture and current events.
Provide clear and constructive feedback on student writing.
Foster a supportive and encouraging classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks.
Communicate effectively with Dive In administrators to ensure smooth program operations and address concerns about students in a timely manner.
Provide brief written feedback on student participation and progress at the midpoint and conclusion of the summer (approximately 50-100 words per student, per half).
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Experience teaching ELA or ESL to middle- or high-school students.
Demonstrated ability to design and implement fun and effective lesson plans.
Talent for making complex grammatical concepts intuitive and interesting.
A friendly manner, sense of humor, and genuine enthusiasm for working with youth.
Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Optional Experience and Interests
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds.
Interest in innovative teaching methods that integrate multiple media and modalities.
Compensation
$80 per hour paid on a biweekly basis

Dive In Commonwealth seeks an engaging part-time Humanities instructor to teach a two-week seminar exploring a cycle of myths from the ancient Mediterranean world. This summer course for rising 9th-graders will directly precede a year-long Ancient History course; the goal is to whet student’s curiosity for the field by exploring an accessible and self-contained topic within it. The exact theme and disciplinary approach are to be determined by the instructor but must assume zero knowledge of the ancient world or of literary-historical methods. Close reading and in-depth analysis should be prioritized over comprehensive historical overview. The class will unfold across eight classroom sessions, half which are an hour and half two-hours long (for twelve total hours of in-person instruction). No take-home work will be assigned, meaning that all activities, readings, and writing assignments must be completed in-class.
Possible Topics May Include
What is a myth? What were the lived contexts in which ancient myths were performed and memorialized? What did these myths mean to different peoples and what social purposes did myth-making serve?
An investigation of the primary sources through which ancient myths have survived (literature, architecture, material culture, etc); how these sources were variously preserved, lost, and rediscovered; how contemporary scholars work with these materials to construct and/or question historical narratives.
A literary and thematic exploration of key mythic figures and fables; their formal structure and aesthetics; their explicit and implicit cultural values; how various literary and artistic figures have transformed these myths through successive retellings.
While we have a slight preference for topics derived from ancient Greece or Mesopotamia, we are also open to ancient Egyptian and Hebrew myths.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging lessons that make the ancient world come alive and leave students wanting to learn more in the school year ahead.
Develop a coherent topical throughline while alternating different classroom formats and learning modalities (i.e. the course should have a sustained focus but be varied enough to hold teenagers’ interest).
Foster a supportive and encouraging classroom environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and taking risks.
Communicate effectively with Dive In administrators to ensure smooth program operations and address concerns about students in a timely manner.
Provide brief written feedback on student participation and progress at the conclusion of the seminar (approximately 50-100 words per student)
Essential Skills and Qualifications
Commitment to Dive In’s mission and desire to help middle-schoolers excel
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to design and implement lessons around humanities topics of your choosing
Demonstrated interest in the ancient world and enthusiasm for the material
Experience leading, facilitating, or coaching a small group of people
High energy and a sense of humor!
Preferred Experience
Previous teaching experience and/or tutoring or camp-counseling experience
Experience working with middle-school age students
Familiarity with local museums (e.g. Museum of Fine Arts, Isabella Stuart Gardener) and willingness to integrate field trips into classroom curriculum (if relevant)
While a bachelor’s degree is preferred, it is not required. If you have a strong understanding of the humanities and a passion for education, we encourage you to apply.
Compensation
$80 per hour paid on a biweekly basis
Schedule
July 7 to July 17, 2025
