Tyler McDowell
Head Teacher
Tyler has spent much of his professional career in early childhood classrooms. He holds a BA in Psychology, from Middlebury College in Vermont, and an MA in educational studies, from Tufts. He is passionate about creating immersive, trusting, and collaborative learning experiences, always striving to partner with both children and families. He believes that to truly meet the needs of a child, it is essential to create an environment where their sense of self can flourish. Outside of the classroom, Tyler enjoys writing music on guitar, exploring the outdoors, playing board games, and fostering connections between people.

Beth Dowgert
Assistant Teacher
Beth is very much looking forward to continuing in the Purple Room this fall! She has worked in early childhood for over a decade, first as a childcare provider and then as a preschool teacher. Most recently, she received education and training in Early Childhood Policy and Leadership and PreK-12 School Counseling from Boston College. In addition to supporting children and families, Beth enjoys going to the beach, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Sara Skobac
Eliot-Pearson Fellow
Sara is going into her second year as a Master’s student at the Eliot Pearson department at Tufts this year. She is super excited to be an EP fellow in the Purple Room, and to be in this amazing community again. Sara’s passions include spending time with friends and family, cooking, and doing puzzles!

Tvisha Doctor
Eliot-Pearson Fellow
Tvisha is a passionate explorer of stories, nature, and all things poetic. When she’s not immersed in books or writing verses, you’ll probably find her admiring a sunset, sipping on a strong cup of coffee, or scribbling thoughts that often end up as the creative write-ups you might spot around campus. She has a deep love for dogs, a soft spot for nature, and an adventurous spirit that loves discovering new cuisines (even though she believes in eating to live rather than living to eat –but good food is always welcome!). More than anything, she has an immense love for children. Bring a child near her and you’ll likely see her completely forget any task at hand—because she’ll be busy talking to them, playing with them, or simply getting lost in their world. Being around children and contributing to their growth feels like a privilege, and she is truly excited to be part of this journey.

Jordin Luxenberg
Teacher Assistant/Floater
Jordin has been the floating teacher at EPCS for six years; She holds an M.A. in Developmental Disabilities from the Teachers College at Columbia University. One of the best gems about her job is building relationships with all the children and seeing their growth throughout the year. She enjoys creating art, watching documentaries, exploring new places, traveling, and visiting friends and family in her spare time.
