Alexandra Prokopenko: Russia’s Long War: Economic, Social, and Global Reverberations

October 26, 2023 @ 6:00 pm 7:30 pm

Please join the Russia and Eurasia Program at The Fletcher School for a conversation with prominent researcher Alexandra Prokopenko on Russia’s political economy. We will discuss changes in Russia’s economic policy and the role of sanctions, what that means for Russian society and elites, and how the long war is affecting Europe and the rest of the world.

We encourage you to read her assessment of Russia’s 2024 budget, written together with visiting scholar Pavel Luzin, and her recent analyses of a new class of Russian proprietors, how sanctions have changed Russia’s economic policy, how the war has affected Russian elites, and the future of Russia’s economy for Carnegie Politika. The event is open to the public. Please make sure to register via myFletcher to participate in the event in person. Refreshments will be served.

Alexandra Prokopenko is a nonresident scholar at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center. She is a visiting fellow at the Center for Order and Governance in Eastern Europe, Russia, and Central Asia at the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).
