Fletcher Eurasia Club Lunch Seminar: Irina Busygina on the Irreversible Disintegration of Eurasia

Please join the Fletcher Eurasia Club for a lunch seminar with visiting scholar Irina Busygina. She will discuss the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on the post-Soviet space, including the protracted armed conflicts across the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and Eastern Europe and the current state of the Eurasian Economic Union. We encourage you to read her recent articles on how the war has affected “the rise of Eurasia” and “the balance between domination and cooperation” in post-Soviet integration. The Eurasia Club weekly lunch seminar series engages with students, faculty, staff, and researchers to foster a better understanding of the region among members of the Fletcher community. Members of the wider Tufts community are also welcome to attend. Lunch will be served.

Irina Busygina is a Visiting Scholar at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, Harvard University. Until August 2022, she worked as Professor of Comparative Politics at the Department of Political Science and International Relations (Higher School of Economics at Saint Petersburg, Russia) and also headed the Center for Comparative Governance Studies. Her research interests include comparative federalism and regionalization, Russian domestic and foreign policy, and Russia-EU relations. She has also been a visiting scholar Aleksanteri Institute, University of Helsinki (Finland), Uppsala Centre for Russian Studies (Uppsala University, Sweden), State University of New York (Binghamton, NY, USA), Centre for East European Studies (University of Regensburg, Germany), Slavic Research Centre (University of Hokkaido, Japan), Faculty of Political Science (University of Bergen, Norway).
