Internship opportunity: Gender Review for the U.S. Army War College
The U.S. Army War College seeks a research intern for a position running from 13 September to 3 December 2021, comprising a minimum of 80 hours of work total.
Research description: Previous research with the Gender and Dynastic Ties program demonstrated the important role of networks–including familial ties–in the election of heads of government. These connections provide distinct support to women running for office. By building a dataset of women heads of government’s dynastic ties, this study will identity variation in these relationships over time and space to develop a theory of how these ties provide a borrowed legitimacy that plays an important role to women as outsiders in the highly masculinized space of national elections. The intern would assist in completing the dataset and work with the principal investigators on background research for the associated case studies.
Any interested students should send a letter of interest, short writing sample, resume, and academic transcripts to Scott at james.s.braderman.civ@mail.mil by 8 September.
