Seeking part-time babysitter in Somerville, Mondays 9am-3pm & occasional evenings

Hello! We are looking for a babysitter for our 18-month old daughter on most Mondays from 9am-3pm, and occasional evenings, mostly on Fri or Sat. On Mondays, dad will be working from home. 

Duties: Playing inside and outside (there are some parks nearby), changing diapers, feeding, putting her down to sleep. During her nap, it would be helpful to do some tidying and light cleaning in the kitchen. 

Location: We live in Somerville and have a visitors parking pass if you have a car. We are close to the Magoun Sq & Ball Sq Green Line stops, and the bus lines that go down Broadway. No driving is required.

Requirements: Enjoys spending time with toddlers. Non-smoker. Up to date on covid vaccine. CPR/first-aid certified preferred.

Position Summary

The Fessenden School’s Upper School seeks an upper school science teacher who is responsible for teaching 4 classes of 12-15 boys, being a member of one of the upper school grade teams, serving as an advisor, and supervising study halls as assigned. Typically, upper school science teachers teach two grade levels. The course content is as follows: 7th grade – Earth & Environmental Science, 8th grade – Physical Science (a combination of Chemistry and Physics), and 9th grade – Biology. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Teach and stay current with curriculum and 21st century learning
  • Incorporate project-based learning, educational technology, differentiated learning and cultural competency into teaching and learning
  • Collaborate with Director of Equity and integrate multicultural and social justice curriculum curriculum into the science curriculum
  • Collaborate and facilitate character education and service learning programs with Upper School Head
  • Exemplify the School’s mission and community principles, including honesty, compassion, and respect 
  • Participate in and help facilitate all division and grade level activities and meetings
  • Coach a sport and/ or supervise sports study hall as assigned
  • Collaborate with colleagues within grade level, division, department and student support services, including the Learning Resources Department
  • Perform duties such as supervising drop off and dismissal, recess, lunch; being a homeroom teacher and/or advisor, grade team member, student club facilitator: leading/assisting with fall orientation, grade trips, overnight grade trips and events.
  • Maintain all documentation connected with the curriculum and students
  • Attend faculty meetings; typically on Mondays from 4:30pm to 5:45pm
  • Attend professional development meetings; three 8:30am to 4:00pm and three 3:00pm to 5:00pm
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Maintain current CPR/AED & first aid certification and child abuse prevention training
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Orientation: August 21st and 22nd
  • School Year: August 28th to June 11th
  • Monday to Friday 7:30 am – 4:30 pm

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related subject
  • Two years of experience in instructing children in an academic program
  • Ability to develop and provide differentiated instruction to meet learning needs of a range of students
  • Enthusiasm and communication skills to engage boys and build meaningful relationships
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control a classroom
  • Ability to perform critical thinking, organization, prioritization and problem solving with minimal supervision
  • Ability to serve in a diverse community of colleagues, students, and parents
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, justice, diversity, and equity
  • A commitment to boys and boys’ education

The Fessenden School’s Extended Day Program (EDP) seeks a part-time After School Teacher to work Monday to Friday from 2:15pm to 4:30pm during the school year. The After School Teacher is responsible for leading students in a safe and engaging after school experience and reports directly to the Extended Day Program Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate with other teachers to plan and deliver focused activities for students in Grades 1-4, in areas such as art, STEM, sports and active games, imaginative play, and other fun, age-appropriate topics
  • Directly supervise and lead a group of students in these activities, ensuring emotional and physical safety for the duration of the activity
  • Participate in daily meetings at 2:15 with EDP Director and other teachers to plan, collaborate, and discuss topics around EDP program
  • Prepare for daily instruction, including setting up space, gathering materials, and communicating with the EDP Director and other teachers about any needs.
  • Communicate with EDP Director and other teachers in tracking students during sign-in, activities, and dismissal
  • Model appropriate, positive behavior for students and respond appropriately to challenging student behaviors
  • Perform other duties as required

Short-term babysitter (Arlington)

Seeking short-term part-time babysitter: MWF 1-6pm in Arlington for baby & toddler

Hello! We are looking for a babysitter for our two children (3.5 years-old and 5 months) on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1-6pm from March 20 through the end of June. We are seeking someone who is responsible, caring, and experienced. 

Duties: playing inside and outside (including walking to the nearby park), changing diapers, feeding, putting the boys down for naps, tidying up after the kids. 

Location: We live in Arlington and have street parking. No driving is required, but it would be easier to get to us by car than public transportation. 

Requirements: 3+ years with infants and toddlers; CPR/first-aid certified; up to date on all vaccines, including COVID and flu vaccines/boosters; non-smoker; excellent references. Preferred qualifications: experience with an infant with allergies and reflux.

Pay/ Benefits: $25-30 / hour depending on experience (if willing to help with basic meal prep and kids’ laundry, $27-32/ hour); 1 paid sick day per month; guaranteed hours

Museum Youth Educator– Royal House and Slave Quarters

Available hourly work as a Museum Youth Educator for the Royal House and Slave Quarters in Medford to assist with curriculum based programs and lead school group tours. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Currently serving eight scholars (two Seniors, two Juniors, two Sophomores and two Freshmen), Winchester ABC seeks an Academic Coordinator to provide academic guidance, coaching, and mentoring. The Academic Coordinator should be academically successful and familiar with the demands and performance levels required to succeed in a rigorous, challenging high school. The Academic Coordinator would help guide the Scholars on organization of academic materials and assignments as well as study skills and other academic issues. We are looking for someone kind, upbeat, and interested in working with teens.

The Academic Coordinator will be at the ABC House (located in Winchester) and actively engaging with scholars for dinner and study hall with the scholars for at least three of the days Monday – Thursday, from 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm, and potentially one Saturday a month.

StAAR Center Graduate Academic Mentor Hiring

The StAAR Center is beginning its search for new Graduate Academic Mentors for the 2023-2024 school year! Academic Mentors are master’s or PhD students who meet one-on-one with students to help them develop academic skills such as time management, study strategies, note-taking skills, and more! We are looking for graduate students who are enthusiastic and passionate about helping others to join our team.
