Dan Maxwell, Roxani Krystalli, and Elizabeth Stites Author Briefing Paper on Pre-Displacement Conditions in South Sudan

In September 2019, Dan Maxwell, Roxani Krystalli, Elizabeth Stites, Alex Humphrey, and Vaidehi Krishnan published a briefing paper, “The Currency of Connections: The evolution of pre-displacement connections in Bentiu, South Sudan.” This briefing paper examines changes in social connectedness in the Bentiu Protection of Civilians site and surrounding town. The authors pay particular attention to the evolution of pre-displacement connections, as well as people’s strategies for establishing new bonds with neighbors, friends, and those pursuing similar livelihood activities. This paper is part of an OFDA-funded partnership between Mercy Corps and the Feinstein International Center at Tufts University.
