Transforming Bodies of Power

This year’s theme, Transforming Bodies of Power: Organize, Amplify, Lead, builds upon the previous five conferences and will question the nature of global and local power structures and their influence on our lives. The conference comes at a crucial time as we seek to be cognizant of and ultimately reconceptualize bodies of power, encouraging participants to utilize gender as an analytical tool for expanding our collective consciousness.

The concepts of Power and Leadership, and who is allowed to possess them, are deeply gendered and racialized. In the Conference on Gender and International Affairs’ (CGIA) kick-off panel, we explore this topic with our panelists:

Bushra Amiwala-a Skokie, IL native and daughter of immigrants who truly appreciates diversity in its many beautiful forms

Mouna Ben Garga-Pan African Human Rights activist and Community organiser

Rosebell Kagumire-multimedia communications specialist, blogger, journalist, and activist.
